What I call a healthy lifestyle by Clélia D’angelo

[Article updated on 19/09/2023]

Hygiene or “healthy lifestyle” as we find it everywhere on social networks is not a hashtag. It is a set of actions and behaviors aimed at keeping your body, mind and body healthy. This remains a bit vague.

I’m not an expert in this field, but I am passionate about nutrition and health.

The articles you’ll find on my site are the result of in-depth research that I’d like to share with you. However, I would like to stress that I am not a health professional and that my advice should in no way replace that of a qualified physician. I’m here to guide you, but it’s important that you consult a professional for specific questions or medical concerns. Your well-being is important. So be sure to consult the appropriate experts and take the best possible care of yourself.

As a Dietitian Nutritionist we will discover together what I consider to be a healthy lifestyle.

I start by eating with desire and pleasure

It is essential that you have the desire to consume your dishes. Without desire, it is very difficult to enjoy eating.

So yes, eating is essential to survival but we can spice up, sweeten, spice or sprinkle our dishes a little to make them delicious for our taste buds (they just ask for that)!

Desire to eat = the best known is that of pregnant women. Who has not already heard or experienced the desire for food, an urgent desire! When I was pregnant I can tell you that I really wanted red meat, cherry tomatoes, strawberries or pasta. Well, these desires are simply a normal phenomenon that you need to rediscover, because no, we don’t need to be pregnant to perceive the needs of our body and even less to be able to listen to them. Just listen and your body will send you the signal.

Pleasure of eating = when we manage to listen to the desire we have for a food it will be all the easier to feel intense taste pleasure.

The pleasure of eating is also closely linked to being hungry when you put the food in your mouth! Have you ever noticed that it’s not as good to eat when you’re not hungry?

So I invite you to wait until you are hungry, then focus on what you would really like to eat so you can finally enjoy this food, slowly, without doing anything else.

I take the time to cook to take care of myself

When my patients tell me “I don’t have time to cook” I always answer them “it’s a question of priorities, is your priority your health or… watching TV?” Scroll your phone? …”.

Cooking must become a lifestyle habit, it must be normal for you and not an effort!

You only need 15 to 20 minutes/meal to prepare a good little dish with flavors that you like.

To begin with, I invite you to respect the seasonality of vegetables, this will allow you to never cook the same dishes since vegetables are constantly changing. If you don’t know them, get help from the internet (it’s a magical tool!).

Remember that you can cook in the oven, in the pan, in the steam, that you can eat raw, cooked, sautéed, marinated, pan-fried, grilled, that you can add spices and herbs to change the taste of a dish!

For example, take the leek quiche, you can very well prepare it with curry once, then with herbs de Provence the next time! It won’t taste the same at all… I’ll let you test it.

Have physical activity

To all those reluctant to exercise, please excuse me but having physical activity is essential to maintain a healthy lifestyle!

Be careful, I’m not telling you to train to run a marathon, no, but to find an activity that you enjoy, that you can do without feeling like you’re making an effort if that’s what you want. slows you down.

The benefits of physical activity? Firstly, it will allow you to clear your mind, to clear your mind, if not even to simply clear your mind by leaving the rooms and rooms where you can spend long hours when working.

In addition, physical activity increases your energy needs and will allow you to reconnect more easily with your food sensations such as hunger or satiety in order to eat the right quantities you need.

What to do ? There is something for all tastes and personalities! Do you need to relax? Think yoga, pilates, chi-gong or walking. Need to let off steam? Gym, crossfit or running. Need to be with other people other than those at work? Think about team sports!

Little more : physical activity will help you get better quality sleep. Restorative sleep is essential when trying to achieve a healthy lifestyle. It will allow you to recharge the batteries as they should.

I give myself time for myself

I end with time for yourself. Unfortunately, it is not often anchored in our lifestyle to take time for ourselves and just for ourselves. Be careful, cooking time is not time for yourself!

It should be a time of relaxation, of relaxation, of pleasure whose sole objective is to allow you to breathe, to disconnect!

I ask and invite you to be a little selfish for once! Yes ! Start with 10 min/day… What is 10 min in a day? Well, this is the time you need to do yourself some good!

Read ? Listen to a relaxation? A podcast you love? Enjoy a coffee with a biscuit in peace? Are you making a mask? Do you apply cream on your body?… Believe me, I have no shortage of ideas, I’ll leave it to your imagination.

Do not doubt the benefits, very quickly observed, that these few minutes will have on your morale.

I hope I have convinced you that a healthy lifestyle is not rocket science, it does not require any particular equipment but rather the desire to do good for yourself: for your body and your mind!

You have all the keys in hand, it’s up to you…
